Interdisciplinary Colloquium
Prof. Yael Sharvit, University of California, Los Angeles UCLA
18 December 2025, 16:15
As part of the department’s weekly research colloquium,
held every Thursday from 16:15 to 17:45 in the Webb Building (Room 103),
the following lecture by Prof. Yael Sharvit from University of California, Los Angeles UCLA will take place:
Diagnosing “tenseless” languages
Abstract:
Some languages have been claimed to lack overt tense morphology. The literature contains arguments for positing covert tense for such languages, as well as arguments for not doing so. We will review and critique some of these arguments and try to find reliable tests for presence/absence of covert tense.
All are welcome!
